Perugia

Approximately 80 kilometers southwest of Casa Bosco Perugia is situated, the capital of the province of Umbria. It is a beautiful city with winding medieval streets, densely packed houses and a vibrant city life, partly due to the two universities that are located there. One of the highlights of Perugia is the ‘Rocca Paolina’, a largely underground fortress, built after the example of the Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome. There is also the ‘Fontana Maggiore’, one of the most famous fountains in Italy.

A visit to the cathedral of Perugia is also very worthwhile. This cathedral, dedicated to San Lorenzo, is covered with pink and white marble on the inside and is full of special works of art. The gothic town hall opposite to the cathedral, the Palazzo dei Priori, is worth a visit because of the many frescoes.

The city is also known to the jazz lovers because every year in July one of the biggest jazz events in the world takes place, the Perugia Jazz Festival.
